Business Developer (Flanders)

Karno is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated business teammate to help develop the thermal energy business in Flanders, Belgium.

Karno is a young company that is revolutionizing the thermal energy market in Belgium. Gone are the days of individual boilers and gas or oil heating systems. Karno installs new collective and entirely renewable systems to supply new districts directly with heat and cooling. Karno develops, builds, finances, manages and operates zero-carbon thermal energy networks. 

Working location in downtown Brussels, with frequent movements across Flanders and sometimes the Benelux.

Your Mission

  • Identify leads from public and private property developers, architects, project managers, public entities at municipal, regional and federal levels and any other potential clients
  • Develop and maintain a network , in particular by taking an active part in events and conferences
  • Explain the ecosystem in which Karno operates, still new for the vast majority of the prospects. Educate stakeholders on the thermal energy regulatory framework, the possible solutions, the advantages of Karno’s offer as opposed to alternatives, the roles and responsibilities, the stakes and risks in thermal energy supply, etc.
  • Listen to and understand the needs of our prospects, identify a match with our service offer and differentiators towards competition
  • Qualify leads into opportunities in collaboration with the business development team
  • Transfer more complex projects to a project developer who will continue offering and closing
  • Work with the technical sales team and the legal department to develop the best offer, combining technical and economic expectations from the customers with organizational, legal and regulatory constraints to offer the best offer for all stakeholders involved
  • Negotiate and close self-managed projects: accompany the customer to the end of the process
  • Manage your sales pipeline to achieve your targets
  • Promote Karno's reputation to prospective customers in collaboration with the marketing department
  • Promote our solutions to public authorities, design offices, architects, PEB advisers, politicians, etc. as part of helping the market mature
  • Participate to continuous improvement of the the sales pitch, commercial material and marketing and business development strategy
  • Remain the SPOC for your customers, ensure their satisfaction from start to project completion.

Your profile

  • You're a born hunter, you're convincing, go-ahead and persistent
  • You are eager to learn and solution-oriented
  • You listen to and understand your customers
  • You are creative and know how to tailor an offer to your customer's expectations
  • You have a positive attitude and are enthusiastic by nature
  • You are native in Dutch and fluent in English and or French
  • You have 7-10 years of prior sales experience
  • You have a technical background or an affinity with building technology or (real estate) project development or knowledge of the energy sector
